Wind profile estimation for sUAS Pilots
1. NATURE OF OUTPUT. All wind speed values, profiles, and related data generated by this tool are mathematical approximations only, produced by empirical boundary-layer models (Logarithmic Law and Power Law). They do not constitute certified meteorological forecasts, official weather advisories, or aviation weather products of any kind.
2. ACCURACY LIMITATIONS. Model outputs assume neutral atmospheric stability and homogeneous terrain. Real atmospheric conditions are dynamic and routinely depart from these assumptions due to thermal stratification, convective activity, mechanical turbulence, orographic effects, surface heterogeneity, and rapidly evolving synoptic patterns. Actual winds at any altitude may differ materially from computed values. No warranty, express or implied, is made regarding the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any output.
3. NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR OFFICIAL WEATHER PRODUCTS. This tool does not replace, supersede, or supplement official aviation weather products. Operators must obtain and review current METAR, TAF, PIREP, SIGMET, AIRMET, and/or NWS forecast products from an FAA-approved or equivalent authority prior to every flight operation.
4. PILOT IN COMMAND RESPONSIBILITY. Pursuant to 14 C.F.R. § 91.3 (and equivalent regulations in applicable jurisdictions), the Pilot in Command (PIC) bears sole and final responsibility for all preflight planning decisions, go/no-go determinations, in-flight risk assessments, and the safe conduct of every flight operation. Use of this tool does not transfer, limit, or share that responsibility in any way.
5. COMPLETE LIABILITY DISCLAIMER. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developer, contributors, hosting parties, and any affiliated persons or entities expressly disclaim all liability — including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages — arising from or related to the use of, reliance upon, or inability to use this tool or its outputs, regardless of whether such liability sounds in contract, tort, strict liability, negligence, or any other legal theory, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF TERMS. By using this tool and reviewing any output it produces, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this disclaimer in its entirety, that you accept its terms without reservation, and that you will not rely on this tool as a sole source of weather information for any flight operation.
